World Colouring Day - Tomorrow
I just found out that tomorrow is World Colouring Day. This is a fundraiser by Save the Kids foundation to raise money by sponsoring children to do some colouring in.
Other than being something fun to do with the kids, they have colouring sheets and resources parents and schools can use to get involved.
Why am I blogging about this here? Apart from the fact that business mums have children who may want to get involved, colouring sheets are also a great promotional tool for your business.
If you have a colouring sheet available, please add a comment so we can find them.
The other thing that I liked about their resources is everything was there ready to download, even a letter for the schools to print out and distribute to families. It’s even in a word format so the schools can easily edit it or put it on their letterhead.
Having everything ready so people can get involved is a great thing. It means that things are much easier and all the information is there at hand.
In your business, it could be as simple as adding an FAQ page to your website and every time you get a general question from a customer, add it to that page.

Shoppe Girls - cool Mother's Day Download
We’ve had a busy few days, and when I sat down to write today’s post, I didn’t have anything to say!!! So, I headed off to Networked Blogs on Facebook for some inspiration from some of the blogs I follow.
On the first page, I saw a post by Shoppe Girl with a free Mother’s Day printable. If you are expecting breakfast in bed this Sunday, go to their site and print it out for your kids to colour and get Dad or the kids to write down the menu. The printable is available from Style Me Gorgeous, and is available here.
This is a great way business owners and bloggers can work together. One person created something, another blogged about it, then I found the post and now I’ve blogged about it!

Over the weekend, I received a message from one of my Facebook friends asking if I could mention her business and her Mother’s Day promotion on one or more of my blogs and/or my facebook pages.
Just because she asked, isn’t why I’m blogging about it here. It’s the way she asked.
First, she was specific in her request. She mentioned the products she would like mentioned as well as her free gift with purchase offer.
Second, she told me what was in it for me. In return for me giving her some promotion, she would do the same for me. It wasn’t a request for just promotion for her business. She made sure it was a WIN-WIN for both of us.
If you have something to promote and you would like others to help, make sure you have a WIN-WIN. This way, people won’t get narky and feel you are taking them for granted. If you tell them what you are offering in return, they are more likely to want to help you.

To make up for a less than ideal breakfast in bed, I thought I’d start sharing some great places where you can buy Mother’s Day Gifts.
- Annette Piper Jewellery - This is a site I drool over. In her blog posts, she includes photos of her jewellery. All items are hand crafted and you are sure to find something you like.
- Recipe Blocks - Save your Mum time and money with this amazing cooking system from Mums on a Mission. Their yummy recipes will have you (and/or your Mum) cooking delicious meals in a fraction of the time.
- Leaf Journals - For something a bit different, the story starters from Leaf Journals make a unique gift for Mum (or for yourself). There are a range of topics from Christmas to Girls Only and they help to create fun conversation around the dinner table.
- Herbology at Home - If you or Mum is interested in herbs, then the new book from Herbology would make a perfect gift. It has tips and recipes for creating herbal remedies at home.
- Your Cheeky Monkey - It may seem odd that I’m recommending a baby shop for a Mother’s Day gift, but check out their recycled jeans bags. I have one and so does my sister. They are a great size & fit a lot in it, especially if you find yourself carrying around stuff for the kids.

Feel the love

In the lead up to Valentine’s Day, I didn’t post much giving you ideas of what to do to promote your business, so I thought I’d make up for it by sharing a few ideas I’ve seen around the place.
The first idea is from Your Cheeky Monkey. On her blog, Monique posted about a number of products that share the love. You can read her post here. The burp cloth and singlet both have hearts on it.
On Facebook, a number of business mums were giving away free heart chocolates with every order. This was a fun way to share the love, even if their products weren’t obviously romantic.
There were also a lot of blogs that posted tips for celebrating Valentine’s Day, along with links to products that would help the reader with each tip.
Over at The Family Groove, they were choosing their Valentine’s Idol.
Little Bare Bear had a Valentine’s Sale, offering everyone on their Facebook Fan page a discount voucher.

Posted by: | CommentsI discovered a new widget on Facebook today while writing a Friday Five report. So, just for fun, I thought I’d blog about some of the fan pages I’ve joined & add a fan button so you can follow them too.
The first one is a relatively new page called F.B.G.S, which stands for Facebook Garage Sale. Many WAHMs use their fan pages to have sales for their fans, this page brings all those sales together so you can get yourself a bargain. There have been quite a few garage sales so far, and they look great (pity I don’t need any baby items at the moment). I’m sure this page will take off as more people jump on the Facebook garage sale wagon and more and more products will be offered.
