Book Review - Brand New Day
Posted by: | Comments
Over the Christmas break, I read Brand New Day by Lara Solomon. As a busy Mum with 2 small children, this was no mean feat, reading anything takes a long time! This was one book I was able to read quickly and easily in small chunks of time.
Written as a diary, Lara shares the ups and downs of starting her business, Mocks, including getting started, moving out of home, hiring staff, growth, and more. She also shares what is happening in her personal life as a result of her business.
I really enjoyed this book and took quite a few lessons away from it. It’s not a “serious” business book in the sense that you will be told how to run and grow your business, however there are a lot of lessons we can learn from Lara’s journey.
I highly recommend this book for business mums to read and learn from. You can purchase this book online from Business Mums Guides.
Marketing Monday - Search Engine Optimisation
Posted by: | CommentsAs many of you probably already know, I listen to Light FM on the radio every day. Most recently, Luke Holt of the Morning Wake Up has been talking about search engine optimisation and the importance of having the Light FM website show up better in the search engine results.
He’s currently trying to appear at the top of the results for the phrase “Absolute Legend“! As of this morning, he’s got to the first page in the Australian Google results, but not the International results. He’s still working on it.
To have good results, there are a number of things you can do yourself to get better results. These include:
- Regularly updating your content (blogs are good for this)
- Making keywords bold
- Having page descriptions that contain your key words
- Incoming links to your site
You can get a lot more tips with our “Lift Your Website to New Heights” workshop notes.
You don’t need to pay a lot of money to get your site to have great results in the search engines. Sometimes a little bit of tweaking is all you need.
I’m back!
Posted by: | CommentsThe last few weeks, my posting has come to a stand still! I’ve been head down getting the lastest magazine’s out and the new Business Mums Magazine site up and running. I have also been doing a lot of planning for the Business Mums Conference and planning for the future of the Business Mums Network. Some things had to fall by the wayside, and unfortunately, blogging was one of those things.
But I’m back! I will also be catching up on some posts and others will start again from this week.
