Marketing Monday - Goodie bag inserts
By
I know I have talked about this before - but goodie bag inserts are a great way to get your name out there. Many events offer goodie bags you can put promotional items in to, and so many of them end up full of paper.
One of the easiest ways you can ensure your brochure doesn’t end up in the bin right away is to attach something to it - a chocolate frog, tea bag, lollipop or something else. People will look at your brochure while they remove the addition.
With goodie bag inserts, you can be a bit creative with what you do. Katerina from Twinkle Lily created some great inserts for our recent Pamper Your Business day. In a small bag she put a few samples of organic hand cream, a business card and a couple of chocolates. I know these haven’t ended up in the bin! I’ve eaten the chocolate, but the hand cream and business card are still there in the bag, ready for when I need some handcream. Her business card will also go into my file.
It doesn’t take much to make your goodie bag inserts fun and help them stand out. And they don’t need to cost a lot either.

Some events hand all guests a goodie bag, while those that involve a sit-down breakfast, lunch or dinner place an array of brochures and promotional materials on the guests’ seats or table place settings. If you get an opportunity to include a promotional piece at a sit-down function, create something that has a talking point, gives people examples of how they could enjoy your product and an undated, special offer.
I am creating a DL postcard that has some potted forecasts for each Sun sign (which may be a fun ice-breaker at the table - “What’s happening for you in 2010?”) along with an invitation to sign up for the newsletter on one side, and information about my products plus a special 20% off offer on the other.
I will quickly be able to see how many sign-ups and purchases I get as a result of this promotion.

That’s a great idea about having something that is a talking point. I hope your DL postcards bring you fantastic results.
